Tim Glotzbach
Tim Glotzbach is the retiring Director of the Berea College Crafts department, holding the position from August 2007 until June 2018. As Director, Tim led the business enterprise and marketing/retail components of the 126 year-old Berea College Crafts department which includes two retail outlet stores, an ecommerce site, four contemporary craft production & design studios operated by 8 full-time master craftpersons, and over 120 student craftpersons. Before accepting a position at Berea, Tim spent over 30 years working in higher education and administration as a faculty member, department chair, and academic dean. He received an MFA in Art- Jewelry & Metalsmithing from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and received a B.S. in Art from Indiana State University. Tim has been actively involved in arts-related economic development activities at the local, regional, and national level since 1996!
The H+B firm was fortunate to collaborate with Tim on the Deep Green Residence Hall, as the Berea Crafts Department produced 265 pieces of residence hall furniture (including desks, chairs, tables, and bedroom furniture) and 8 unique occasional tables. Incorporating locally sourced and produced wooden furniture into the design of Deep Green helped to earn LEED Platinum recognition and the Living Building Petal for Materials for the 120-bed residence hall.
“It was a pleasure to work with H+B on the Deep Green residence hall. Dan Hellmuth and his colleagues at H+B have a deep and sincere understanding of art and design, and the nature of engaging student designers and craftpersons in the process. I would welcome any future opportunities to work with the firm.” - Tim Glotzbach
