H+B performed interior design renovations and code compliance review to convert an existing 30,000 community college/office building into 10,000 sf of finished office space and 20,000 sf of shell office space. Solutions AEC, a mechanical engineering consulting and design/build firm, purchased the building to use for their offices and to lease remaining space. Objectives included creating a ground-floor lobby to serve the entire facility, and to create an open, collaborative office space with welcoming entry and collaborative community/cafe/breakout work space. Features include an office entry “scale wall" made of reclaimed sheet metal from ducts - layered in a biomimetic scale pattern, a company sign, reception desk and coffee bar made of salvaged wood and wood reclaimed from pallets featured selectively on walls. Bright colors were used on light fixtures, select furnishings, and on accent walls to contrast with the natural wood colors.
