Project Info:
The Bowood Farms Nursery has been incorporated into 3 attached commercial buildings in the Central West End. The westernmost structure, designed by George Hellmuth in 1930, has been transformed into a retail garden shop, taking advantage of the original clerestory daylighting design. The nursery is being designed as a destination point, featuring a streetside cafe. A gallery surrounds the open air nursery partially topped with a green roof. The cafe itself consists of a bar and seating area with 14’ ceilings, with expansive views out to the plant displays.
